Plan Your Visit
At Georgetown University, the safety, health, and security of our community and visitors are top priorities. The Office of Public Safety provides extensive resources to ensure that prospective undergraduate students and guests planning a visit to our DC Campuses have a secure and well-informed experience.
Visitors are encouraged to utilize these tools during their time on campus:

- The LiveSafe Mobile App: A personal security system connecting users directly with the GUPD. Visitors can use it to report suspicious activity, access emergency guides, or use “SafeWalk” to share their location with friends in real-time. Learn more and download the LiveSafe App .
- HOYAlert: Georgetown’s mass notification system used to broadcast immediate email and text alerts in the event of an active emergency or critical incident on campus. Guests visiting the university can now sign up to receive HOYAlerts via text, in case of an emergency on the Hilltop or Capitol campuses. Text Hoyas1789 to 77295 to opt in. The opt-in will automatically expire after three days, at which time you may resubscribe. Visitors can also stay informed by following @HOYAlert on X (Twitter) .
