"The Department of Public Safety believes that integrity, accountability, and communication serve as the foundation of public trust and professionalism. DPS officers emphasize problem solving and relationship building in both a reactive and proactive manner and seek to: protect life and property, prevent and deter crime, maintain peace and order, and respond to safety and security issues. Ultimately, such an approach encourages the public to develop a safety and security conscious attitude, deter criminal activity, and promote and maintain a safe and secure campus environment. DPS serves the campus community in a responsible and professional manner recognizing the important duties and responsibilities entrusted to them. DPS works collaboratively with members of the Georgetown University community to respond to their needs. As Director of Public Safety , I consider it a privilege to serve and look forward to nurturing the trust relationship essential to the success of supporting the mission of Georgetown University during the process of transforming lives for the betterment of society.
