Student Guards

Student guards play an integral role in protecting the campus community. They supplement security guards at the entrances to residence halls and other facilities to help maintain security and enforce building access policies.

On the main campus, approximately 150 student guards assist the Department of Public Safety in controlling access to New South, LXR, Darnall, Copley, Harbin, Village C, Reiss, Lauinger, McCarthy, Kennedy, Reynolds, and Walsh.

Student guards are trained each semester. They do not have arrest powers but work with officers in the Department of Public Safety to identify potential problems and respond to incidents that may arise.

Any further questions may be directed to the Student Guard Office at studentguards@georgtown.edu or by phone at 202-687-2645.
