Bicycle Registration

Bicycle Registration  New!

Effective March 1, 2009, the Department of Public Safety will offer bicycle registration to university students, faculty and staff (Bicycle registration is no longer required in the District of Columbia). In partnership with the National Bike Registry (NBR), DPS will register bikes and place the information in NBR’s database. Note: DPS plans to include bike registration with the sale of bicycle locks as an incentive to encourage bicycle registration and lock use. DPS recommends the use of U-locks with steel cuffs. Bike registration and U-locks will be available for purchase 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Sunday.

To safely and effectively manage the number of bicycles, skates, scooters and skateboards on campus, the Office of Transportation Management and the Department of Public Safety share responsibility for bicycle parking regulations, bicycle traffic and equipment regulation enforcement as well as theft prevention, and investigation. Bicycles, skates, scooters and skateboards should be used only in designated areas on the Georgetown University campus.
