SafeRides, Individual Escorts, and Neighborhood Shuttles
The SafeRides service enables students to request an individual ride to or from campus and any location in the Burleith or West Georgetown areas by calling 202-784-RIDE (7433). SafeRides is available Sunday through Wednesday from 8pm-2am and until 3am Thursday through Saturday.
The boundaries for these escort services are Whitehaven Parkway and W Street to the north, Prospect St. to the south, Foxhall and Reservoir roads to the west, and Wisconsin Avenue to the east.
Individual Escorts
When SafeRides is not in service, you may call 202-784-RIDE to request an individual escort from DPS. The method of escort (walking, patrol car, SafeRides van) will be determined by DPS, based on the resources available at the time of your call. We encourage you to request an individual escort outside of SafeRides operating hours if you need special assistance or feel unsafe for any reason.
The boundaries for these escort services are the same as the boundaries for SafeRides.
Neighborhood Shuttle
A SafeRides Shuttle operates during the academic year to and from the main gates of campus (37th and O Streets) in two continuous loops through Burleith or West Georgetown from 10pm-3am Thursday through Saturday. Service resumes on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:00pm for the Fall 2009 semester.
