Vehicle Access
Georgetown University limits vehicular access to campus for safety and security reasons. Access policies may change due to campus events, or in response to local and/or federal terrorism threat levels. Learn more about Georgetown and the Homeland Security Threat Level.
University employees with parking permits may enter campus via Prospect Street. Taxis carrying passengers to a campus destination will also be permitted to enter at Prospect Street.
All visitors and commercial vehicles are required to enter campus at Canal Road. Parking for visitors, daily parkers and evening students is available only by purchasing a permit at the traffic booth in the Southwest Garage, which is accessed by making a right-hand turn into the second garage entrance after entering campus from Canal Road. No permits will be sold at either the Prospect Street or Canal Road booths.
All drivers visiting Georgetown University should be mindful of pedestrian traffic on campus. Pedestrians always have the right of way.
