Building Security and Access
Residence halls require a Georgetown One Card (GOCard) identification card at all times for entrance. Each residence hall has two access points for GOCard holders -- the exterior of each building near the main entry and another on the interior near the guard post. All members of the university community with a valid GOCard can gain access from the exterior to interior location. Only Georgetown University students may gain access beyond the interior checkpoint into the living area. From 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. only students who live in that particular residence hall may gain access to the living area.
Guests must be signed in at the security desk at the entrance of each residence hall by a resident of that facility. In addition to being signed in and personally escorted by a resident, visitors must present a valid form of identification and sign the guest log at the security desk. Residents can obtain passes for overnight guests through each Residence Hall Office. These passes must be displayed by guests when they enter a building. Students are responsible for guests and their conduct while on campus.
Any problems with the building access control system may be reported to the GOCard Office at (202) 687-2700 Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m. contact the Department of Public Safety on (202) 687-4343.
