Public Safety Announcement: Assault on Harbin Patio

At approximately 12:03 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, a student smoking on Harbin patio was approached by three unknown males. One of the suspects made an incoherent comment. All three suspects then pushed the complainant against the wall and one of the suspects struck him across the face several times with a shiny object (possibly a knife). The suspects fled down the Harbin steps onto Tondorf Road towards the Leavey Center. DPS canvassed the area with negative results. MPD responded and filed a report.

All three suspects then pushed the complainant against the wall and one of the suspects struck him across the face several times with a shiny object (possibly a knife). The suspects fled down the Harbin steps onto Tondorf Road towards the Leavey Center. DPS canvassed the area with negative results. MPD responded and filed a report.

Victim(s):The victim suffered lacerations to his cheek and forehead.

Victim(s) status:The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for superficial injuries and released.

Witness description of suspect(s):The suspects are described as three black males, all over 6' tall, all wearing white Georgetown University sweatshirts (no hoods). One of the suspects has facial hair while the other two are clean shaven.

Safety Reminder

The Department of Public Safety would like to remind all students to practice the following security measures:

  1. On campus students should call DPS at 202-687-4343 regarding any safety concerns.

  2. Off campus students with immediate safety concerns should call MPD at 911 and DPS at 687-HELP.

  3. Practice security at home by not propping doors open, always keeping doors and windows locked, even when you are in residence, and not opening the door to strangers.

  4. Students noticing suspicious activities or individuals loitering around entrances to residence halls, apartments, or townhouses should immediately notify DPS at 202-687-4343.
